By volunteering just one hour each week, SandRidge employees are helping students at Edwards Elementary improve their reading skills through the Reading Explorers program. While results for the current school year are not yet available, last summer's six week program was a great success.
The program works by pairing each employee with an Edwards reading buddy (a.k.a. “Explorer”) who they read with each week. Through the relationship they build with their buddy and by following the structure of the program, employee mentors encourage imagination, instill confidence and make reading fun for their Explorers.
Hands-on involvement in the Reading Explorers program is just one way SandRidge and its employees are working to affect positive change within our local communities.
