The Century Plant, which began operations on October 8, 2010, was built in partnership with Occidental Petroleum (Oxy) in accordance with the June 2008 agreement between SandRidge and Oxy. Under the agreement, Oxy pays for the construction of the plant, while SandRidge builds the plant and delivers the combined carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane gas stream to the plant for treatment. Once the gas stream is separated, SandRidge delivers the methane for sale into the marketplace and Oxy sends the CO2 to the Permian Basin for environmentally-friendly sequestration in its tertiary oil recovery projects. Construction on the second phase of the project, providing additional capacity for the plant, began in November 2010 and is scheduled to be completed by June 2012.
